I’ve been playing piano for 2
years. I started to play the piano by the encouragement of my friend Arda. He
was playing piano in advance and I also played piano in advance. I actually
first learned to play the piano when I was 7 years old. But he impressed me and
I decided to start to play the piano again after a long break.
I developed myself so much
that I play some pieces from famous pianists like Chopin, Beethoven and Schubert.
Before, I had some struggles while playing the piano. I also played a short
time while I was at 8th grade. To exemplify such struggles, I was experiencing
a mis-coordination between my hands. Whe
n my right hand was playing a specific melody, my left hand can’t adapt and play a different melody. As we know, in intermediate and harder piano pieces, there isn’t any synchronization between both hands. I learned to coordinate both hands at the same time. Another new skill that I have developed is not also to start playing harder pieces, but also to start playing different types of pieces, like nocturnes, waltzes and impromptus. I learned that music isn’t just composed of playing the piano, but also, it’s essential to learn the theoretical knowledge and terms about music. I enlarged my capacity about the background knowledge of music, the rhythms and the types of music pieces. With the help of pre-learned theoretical knowledge, I realized that I can play even better, because it helps when you have a rhythm knowledge while performing it. Playing different types of classical music, like nocturne and waltzes, developed my hand coordination. Formerly, it was like a nightmare to play the piano and I wasn’t willing to play, but now, it’s a deep wish inside m e to play every day and to discover very different pieces.
I collaborated with my friend Arda and he helped me to re-start to play
the piano. Some pieces that I heard from him moved me and lead me to start
again. I planned my process of playing the piano as a timeline and during the
summer between IB1 and IB2, I did my best to develop myself. With Arda, we tried
to play a piano piece together, he was going to play the left hand while I was
going to play the right hand.
This is the very activity that I highly showed commitment and perseverance.
I’ve been playing the piano for 2 years and I never quit to play it. When I
start it, it was hard for me because I played it 3 years ago. But after a long
break I start again and I’m still playing it. Day by day, I increased my
working tempo and learned new pieces. When I couldn’t manage to play a part, I
tried over and over again until I make it. At the end I am successful and I
enjoy playing it.
